Darling you gotta let me know, Should we stay or should we go?

With the housing market still struggling to gain any momentum more and more home owners are looking towards their biggest asset, their house, and chossing to extend and refurbish rather than embark on the costly excercise of moving house. Through good, creative design it is often possible to unlock the untapped potential in your home creating that extra room or rationalising the existing layout to suit your way of life.

One such client is doing this to their Edwardian house in Cranleigh, Surrey. With good local schools and links to London and the south coast Cranleigh is the ideal town to raise their family and so they have chosen to extend and refurbish. Creating a house which is suitable for their growing family involves the creation of an additional bedroom, study and integral garage to the side however the main work is to the rear of the property where a large open plan living area looks to unify the exisitng accommodation to the ground floor. By structurally supporting an existing first floor rear annexe the proposals look to create an open plan ground floor room providing a focal point for the house and family life.

The side extension has been designed to reflect the tradtional street scape with a contemporary single storey extension to the rear. The original house is being fully refurbished internally to create a modern 5 bedroom house with integral garage, wine room and entertainment room. Pending approval work is due to start on site in the autumn.
