No news is good news…..or we have just been too busy to blog, poor darts really, anyway…

Not sure where the last few months have gone but the recent monsoon conditions mean summer must be close!

So before a lot of people get caught up in the circus that is England’s 2014 World Cup campaign or the Tour de Yorkshire we thought it would be good to give a flavour of the work which we have been involved in since our last blog. Coincidently this blog involved a new instruction for the refurbishment of three retail units and the conversion of the accommodation above into seven residential apartments in Guisborough in North Yorkshire which is our most recent approval at committee last week! Minor tweaks are proposed to align the proposals with the client’s budget but the scheme is due on site in the autumn and will see a significant improvement to a section of the high street in Guisborough.

Other planning approvals of note include a contemporary single storey rear extension and conversion of roof void with the addition of a zinc clad dormer in Loughton, Essex. Work commenced last week and is due to be complete before Christmas

Also a contemporary extension to an existing 1970’s detached house to create a 5 bedroom house with master suite, study and integral garage in has ben approved in Northallerton, North Yorkshire and a new 5 bed dwelling located within the grounds of an existing end of terrace in Collingham, West Yorkshire.

In addition to the above approvals we also have a number of projects on the drawing board or on site, most notably the old Court House in Barnet which is currently being built out to create nine residential apartments with two retail units to the ground floor. The revised planning application looked to utilise the existing building in a more sympathetic manner saving on build costs of approximately 11% and subsequently increasing floor area and future sales values for the client.

Also on site and due for completion the beginning of August is the full refurbishment and extension of a dwelling creating a 5 bedroom house with rear ‘super room’ opening out onto a terrace and the rear garden, refer to our Facebook page for more images.

and to conclude the ‘work on site’ work also has started on the full refurbishment and extension of an existing dwelling with a new 2 bed timber framed cottage in the grounds in Hatfield Heath.

On the drawing board, ready for planning is a scheme for 5 new houses on a tight town centre site in Sawbridgeworth, East Herts. Currently housing an Indian restaurant and 3 garages the proposals look to demolish these and replace with 5 new houses built in the local vernacular style. Last but not least the finishing touches are being added to proposals for the conversion of several existing outbuildings into an artist’s studio in West Yorkshire.

So all in its been a busy 5 months with more to follow!

If you would like any further information on any of the projects mentioned then please do not hesitate to contact us or visit our Facebook page. Or if you have a project which you would like us to look at we would be more than happy to assist where possible.

Have a great summer!
